with executives to assess their organizations and shape business
visions to align people and energize organizational change. His
numerous publications include two landmark books on strategy
formulation and implementation: The New Strategists: Creating
Leaders at All Levels and On the Fly: Executing Strategy
in a Changing World.
Founder, Keeping the People, Inc.
Keeping the People, Inc. is a consulting firm in Overland Park,
Kansas which helps organizations analyze root causes of turnover
and employee disengagement, then develop and implement employer-of-choice
strategies. Leigh is also on the faculty of the Advanced
Management Institute, which specializes in management and staff
development for architectural and engineering consulting firms. He
is the author of two books on the subject of employee retention--The
7 Hidden Reasons Employees Leave: How to Recognize the Subtle
Signs and Act Before It’s Too Late (AMACOM Books), which The
Library Journal selected as one of the best business books
of 2005, and Keeping the People Who Keep You in Business:

For the past twenty years Mark's work has focused primarily on the areas of organizational and
individual assessment, career development and performance management with growing companies in the
United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. For the last five years he has studied winning Best
Places To Work companies across the U.S., authoring several articles related to employee engagement.
Mark is currently partnering with Leigh Branham on “Lucky to Work Here—How America’s Best Places to
Work are Winning the War for Talent” a book that showcases engagement practices from outstanding
employers of choice. Mark is a founder of the Midlands Venture Forum, an organization committed to
supporting high growth start-up businesses. He also serves on the governing board of Prommune Inc.,
an Omaha-based biotechnology firm that is developing novel vaccines and therapies using patented
technologies developed at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. A passionate advocate of
individuals with disabilities, Mark recently joined the GWR Sunshine Foundation, where he works
with organizations across the Midwest to create new ways of helping individuals with disabilities
live meaningful and productive lives.
